Rushworth Community Transport Service
Due to Covid restrictions the Community Transport Service is not operating at the present time. However we can accept people on our client list via My Aged Care but we cannot actually do trips until restrictions are lifted. We will be able to assist as soon as the restrictions are lifted however clients will have to make other arrangements until this is the case.

The Rushworth Community Transport Service is a transport service which provides social support and access to medical and associated medical procedures that are not available within the town precinct but in larger towns in the surrounding area (Bendigo, Echuca and Shepparton). It does not provide a direct service to Melbourne but will provide transport to the nearest train station for the client to access appointments in Melbourne.
Social support is characterized by the companionship and the assistance provided to a client in the course of the volunteers driving duties. This may include conversation, physical support in getting in or out of a vehicle, carrying items, guiding a client in to the place of appointment, and helping to negotiate on the clients behalf with other service providers.
To register as a client and enable bookings users must be registered and receive a referral from My Aged Care (for clients over 65 or 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) or with the Home and Community Care Program (HACC) for clients under 65 or under 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. For assistance with registering with My Aged Care or HACC please call the Rushworth Community House on 58561295. For My Aged Care clients there is a small fee attached to the service. For HACC clients the service is free.
Rushworth Community Transport Service is primarily funded by the Federal Department of Social Services and the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and is maintained by the Rushworth Community House, within the policies and procedures of the house. The scheme is also supported by community sponsorship and local government as one part of a strategy for maintaining the general health and well being of the community.
