Who are we?

Rushworth Community House is a place where everyone can go to make friends and meet neighbours, share information and learn new skills either for work or pleasure and to make their community a better place to live.

We are situated at the top end of High Street just before the Shire Hall in an historic brick home.

The governance structure consists of a Committee of nine members, of which includes an elected President, Vice president, Secretary and Treasurer. A Co-ordinator is employed to coordinate and manage the daily running of the house, volunteers, courses and contractual agreements. A Book-keeper is employed to ensure that the financial running the house is professionally accounted for.

A Brief History

Commencing in September 1988, the Rushworth Community House was formed with the aim to have a venue which was open to everyone, irrespective of sex, race or age and regardless of political or religious opinion. A place where people can come and go anytime the centre was open.
In 1989 the centre moved to the Uniting Church Hall and applied to become incorporated in October 1989, which was approved on Februrary 21st 1990 and was known as Waranga Community Centre Inc..Thus becoming a recognised Community Provider by government bodies such as theDepartment of Further Education and Community Services Victoria.
A permanent home became a reality with the purchase of the premises at 67 High Street with funds from Community Services , Victoria Division of Further Education, The Waranga News, Services Clubs and the Fundraising Activity.

The Rushworth Community House has achieved many awards over the years and forms an active part of the district running many programs to assist the community on a voluntary basis along with many courses and resources to assist with the Education and interest of individuals and groups.
